Jon Stewart's Intro From the Oscars Is Up On Youtube
Is it just me, or does Jon Stewart look a tad uncomfortable at the beginning? It's a tad weird seeing his schtick work on the Oscar crowd.

Yeah, his intro speech was one of the weaker parts of his night. He got better as the night went on (although was the joke about "because of piracy, some of these women can barely afford enough gown to cover their breasts" in the intro monologue? I loved that). The stuff that he and his writers had filmed ahead of time was great - the opening montage of former Academy Award hosts turning down the job for various reasons, the campaign ads for best actress (and sound editing), and the montage of heterosexuality in cowboy movies all were good. Anyway, he was at least as entertaining as Chris Rock was last year, which is probably the most I can expect from an Academy Award host.

I didnt see the show, so I can't really comment on Stewart's turn as host, however, I think that it should be noted that Stewart works best as a satirist taking the piss. It's hard to do your best work when you're in a room of everyone that you're lampooning, you know? It would explain why a lot of the jokes didn't go over so well with the audience. Also, as a host of a cultural touchstone like the Oscars, you have to stay a tad reverant, which isn't his forte either.

Other observations: It was awesome to see Hustle and Flow win an award for best song. After Eminem winning a couple years back for best original song, it's great to see blacks besting the whites when it comes to hip hop. Rock on!
Acording to this blog, the true loser of the evening was terrorism. And, acording to tons of women who love hard cock action, homosexual shepards were losers too. I thought that Hollywood was a cabal of Liberal Hedonists? Where did they go wrong?

Man, Rob, that site you found is a winner. I like how Munich is both pro-Israel and anti-Israel at the same time.

I honestly don't know what to think of the website. To me, the blogger seems to be reading a lot of her bias into a lot of movies. But what do I know? I'm a white Canadian male. Although we disagree on a lot of stuff, I dug her Memoirs of a Geisha. From now on when I talk about the book or movie with Heather, I plan on calling it by her name, Memoirs of a Whore in a Kimono.
I did learn some great bits from the site, though, like the fact that Alexander Siddig has terrorist ties and is dating another Star Trek actress. That's the meat that *I* like.
